On August 7, the Cleveland Browns released their unofficial depth chart ahead of their first preseason game against the New Orlean Saints. The Browns listed Randall Telfer as the starting TE.
Why is this a surprise? In 2016, Telfer played in 14 games and had just 2 receptions for 4 yards. At the start of training camp, it was rumored that rookie David Njoku would be the starting TE and Telfer would be second.
Head coach Hue Jackson stated Telfer is the No. 1 TE because of his blocking skills. This suggests that the Browns are concentrating on their running game.
