It's a deep quarterback crop this year, which means there are plenty of QBs you can rely on each week. To figure out which one to play, follow my rankings. You should feel safe playing any of the top 14 QBs this week. I'll update my rankings throughout the week.
Byes: None
Last Update: Sept. 18
Other Rankings: QB, RB, WR, TE, DEF
Rank & Player | Opponent | Notes |
1. Aaron Rodgers, GB | @DET | Rodgers is going against the Lions' poor pass defense. |
2. Drew Brees, NO | MIN | Brees is almost always a top-three fantasy play. |
3. Andrew Luck, IND | @JAC | Luck makes a big jump this week because he's playing the Jaguars. |
4. Peyton Manning, DEN | @SEA | Manning has a tough draw against Seattle, but you can't sit him any week he's healthy. |
5. Matt Stafford, DET | GB | Lions-Packers could be a shootout, which favors both team's quarterbacks. |
6. Matt Ryan, ATL | TB | I'm expecting a bounce-back week from Ryan. |
7. Jay Cutler, CHI | @NYJ | Cutler has a great matchup against the Jets this week. He gets a huge bump as a result. |
8. Phillip Rivers, SD | @BUF | Rivers looked great last week and now faces a lesser defense. |
9. Nick Foles, PHI | WAS | Another solid matchup for Foles. |
10. Russell Wilson, SEA | DEN | I expect the Seahawks to have to throw it more than they usual do. |
11. Cam Newton, CAR | PIT | I'm still hesitant with Newton right now, but he's still worth starting. |
12. Tom Brady, NE | OAK | Brady's been fairly mediocre so far, but playing against Oakland should help him out. |
13. Tony Romo, DAL | @STL | Don't panic if you own Romo. He's still worth starting. |
14. Colin Kaepernick, SF | @ARI | The Cardinals defense has looked pretty good this season. You can still start Kaep this week and he's the last of the QBs you should feel comfortable with starting. |
15. Ben Roethlisberger, PIT | @CAR | If you're truly desperate, you could do worse than Big Ben. |
16. Andy Dalton, CIN | TEN | Dalton isn't a terrible fantasy QB, but if you're starting him, something has gone wrong for your team. |
17. Kirk Cousins, WAS | @PHI | Cousins isn't as good as RGIII, but he can be a backup. |
18. Ryan Tannehilll, MIA | KC | Tannehill has long-term potential, but is a backup for now. |
19. Alex Smith, KC | MIA | Smith is a backup. I'm not sure if his value is increased or decreased with Jamaal Charles' injury. |
20. Joe Flacco, BAL | CLE | If you have to play Flacco for more than one week at any point in the season, you're in big trouble. |
