Ashley Williams captained Wales to victory on Monday evening as The Dragons began their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Moldova.
Summer signing Williams played 82 minutes in Cardiff where goals from Joe Allen and Sam Vokes, plus Gareth Bale’s second-half brace saw Chris Coleman’s side come out on top.
Seamus Coleman also wore the captain’s armband for Republic of Ireland who secured a hard-earned 2-2 draw in Serbia.
The right-back missed the first month of the season with an ankle injury but he returned to fitness in time to play the full match in Belgrade.
