Wayne Rooney and his Everton team-mates arrived at Royal Birkdale in time for the final day of The Open, hours after touching down from their recent pre-season clash against Genk.

Rooney was joined by Gareth Barry, Phil Jagielka, Michael Keane and Leighton Baines as he arrived to see the climax of Britain's most famous golfing event.

The Toffees striker posted an image to social media showing himself and his comrades smiling happily while posing with the Claret Jug, which will be awarded to the victorious golfer on Sunday evening.
