David Unsworth says Everton Under-23s' clash with Chester FC on Saturday will represent a psychological test for his players following a gruelling week on the training ground.
Manager Unsworth eschewed the opportunity to play a midweek friendly in favour of a concentrated bout of work at USM Finch Farm.
The young Blues are poised for their second meeting with National League North opponents in seven days. Unsworth’s side recovered from a half-time deficit to overpower Stockport County last week. Nathan Broadhead scored twice, with Con Ouzounidis and Bassala Sambou also on target, as the Under-23s ran in four unanswered second-half goals at Edgeley Park.
