Tottenham will turn their immediate focus to improving Antonio Conte’s attacking options after their attempts to sign defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol proved difficult.
Conte was keen to sign a young, strong and quick centre-halve to compete with Ben Davies on the left of his back-three.
Italy defender Bastoni has made it clear he wants to stay at Inter Milan, however, and Spurs accept any move for Gvardiol is unlikely after the Croatia international agreed a new deal with Leipzig.
