Seamus Coleman is to receive the honour of the freedom of Donegal in recognition of his footballing achievements with Everton and the Republic of Ireland.
A civic reception will be held for the Blues defender by Donegal County Council later this year after a motion was passed this week.
The 28-year-old, who is set to make his 200th Premier League appearance for the Toffees at Stoke on Wednesday, is from Killybegs, County Donegal, and will join keepers Pat Bonner and Shay Given in being given the honour.
The Ireland captain joined Everton in 2009 from Sligo Rovers for £60,000 and has gone on to become one of the Premier League’s best full-backs.
