Proud David Unsworth said hard work on the training pitch paid off after watching Everton Under-23s overhaul Manchester City to return to the top of the Premier League 2 table.
The young Blue went into the clash at the Merseyrail Community Stadium trailing a City side who had lost just once in the league all season by a single point.
However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s superb left-foot volley midway through the second half gave Unsworth’s men a deserved victory that saw them move above their guests.
“It’s a nice feeling to go back to the top of the league,” Unsworth told evertontv.
