Everton captain Phil Jagielka praised midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin for doing a “great job” in Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool.
Frenchman Schneiderlin efficiently screened his back four, routinely snuffing out Reds attacks at their inception, and provided a reliable platform from which full-back pair Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines could burst forward.
The former Manchester United player’s astute positioning also enabled Tom Davies to operate in advanced areas - and in close proximity to striker Cenk Tosun [number 26, below].
Schneiderlin boasted Everton’s joint-highest pass completion rate, with 21 of his 33 accurate passes being zipped forward into Liverpool territory.
