David Prutton spent four years with Southampton after joining from Nottingham Forest halfway through the 2002/03 campaign.
The former midfielder played 94 games for the club during a tumultuous period on the south coast.
FA Cup finalists four months after his arrival – in a season when they finished eighth in the top-flight – Saints would be relegated two years later.
Prutton exited Southampton in January 2007, shortly before the team missed out on promotion from the Championship in agonising fashion, with then manager George Burley’s side losing a play-off semi-final penalty shootout to Derby County.
