Wayne Rooney said Apollon Limassol’s late leveller was ‘hard to take’ as he called on Everton to ‘move on’ from the disappointment of their 2-2 Europa League draw at Goodison.
After falling behind to Adrian Sardinero’s 12-minute opener for the Cypriot side, Rooney levelled nine minutes later when he collected Hector Yuste’s misplaced pass and netted.
Everton looked set for three welcome points in Group E when substitute Nikola Vlasic fired the hosts in front after the hour mark.
But despite being reduced to 10 men after Valentin Roberge was dismissed late on, Limassol came away with a point as Yuste headed home a 88th-minute free-kick.
