Everton Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Liverpool coach Ronnie Moran at the age of 83.
He served the Reds as a player, captain, coach and caretaker manager over a period spanning 50 years before retiring in 1999.
Joe Royle, who led Everton as manager against Liverpool during Moran’s time at Anfield, said: “Ronnie was a lovely man, a proper football man whose company I really enjoyed many, many times.
“I saw him play and he was a warrior for his team – and he was exactly the same when he was on the bench, although whatever the result at Anfield he always made everyone welcome in the boot room after the game.
