RB Leipzig are expecting sporting director Ralf Rangnick to commit his future to the club this week.
Rangnick has emerged as a leading contender to become Everton's new manager.
The Merseysiders had made Marco Silva their top target to succeed Ronald Koeman but Watford are refusing to let him go.
That has forced Everton to look elsewhere and reports have suggested majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has now set his sights on Rangnick.
But Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff has moved to dampen the speculation over the 58-year-old's future.
"We expect to extend the contract ahead of schedule this week," Mintzlaff told SportBild.
