Jordan Pickford says the new Nations League will help England continue their development under Gareth Southgate.
After their superb run to the World Cup semi-finals in the Russia over the summer, the Three Lions kicked off the new international competition with a 2-1 defeat to Spain.
Despite Marcus Rashford’s opener, goals from Saul Niguez and Rodigo consigned England to defeat at Wembley. Danny Welbeck saw a late equaliser ruled out for a foul on David De Gea.
But Pickford, who started in between the sticks for his country, believes the opportunity to face sides as good as Spain will help Southgate’s side continue to progress.
