Newcastle: Allan Saint-Maximin suffers setback in recovery from hamstring injury

Allan Saint-Maximin has suffered a setback in his return from a hamstring layoff and is set to miss Newcastle’s crucial run of three matches in a week.

The Frenchman will be absent when the Magpies travel to Old Trafford on Sunday and is likely to remain sidelined for Wednesday’s visit of Everton and next weekend’s trip to Spurs.

Saint-Maximin had only just returned from six weeks out when coming on as a substitute during last Saturday’s 5-1 win over Brentford.

We understand his latest problem is linked to the same injury, although the irritation is not thought to be too serious.
