New Everton caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson is what they 'need at the moment' according to former Toffees boss Sam Allardyce, who also offers to assist the club legend... and admits he would have stepped in as an interim appointment at Goodison Park

Sam Allardyce believes Everton have made the correct appointment by naming Duncan Ferguson as the caretaker manager.

Ferguson, a club legend at Goodison Park from his playing days, was named as the club's caretaker boss on Tuesday and will be in charge for the club's 'upcoming games' including against Aston Villa at home on Saturday.

Having taken over from the sacked Rafa Benitez, Ferguson is back in the hot seat that he previously sat in after a short interim run against Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in December 2019, which brought an encouraging five points and left him widely acclaimed by supporters.
