Fans are reminded that it is an offence to enter or attempt to enter a football ground in possession of a flare, smoke bomb or pyrotechnic.
Prison sentences, even for fans who have no previous convictions, may result for violation of the law.
Courts and football clubs take this issue extremely seriously as the dangers are far-reaching.
For perpetrators, the consequences will almost inevitably include a football banning order imposed by the courts and, moreover, an indefinite ban by the Club.
"We would urge all fans to be sensible about this issue and to be aware of the far-reaching consequences because there is the potential for someone to be seriously injured or even worse," cautioned Dave Lewis, Everton's Head of Safety and Security.
