Marcelo Bielsa was reportedly set to become the next manager of the Mexican national football team, only for a newly formed committee of club team owners to decide against it.
According to David Faitelson of ESPN, Bielsa agreed to step in as the first team boss of Mexico as part of their preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
However, the bosses of Mexican soccer clubs - with a committee consisting of the owners of Club America, Club Tijuana, Chivas Guadalajara, and Santos Laguna - rejected Bielsa in favor of Pachuca boss Guillermo Almada or former Mexico boss Miguel Herrera.
