Marcel Brands is close to signing a new deal that will end the uncertainty over whether he will continue as Everton’s sporting director.
Brands signed a three-year contract, worth an estimated £2million per season, when he was appointed at the same time as Marco Silva in 2018 but he faced criticism from supporters during his spell at the club, with some of the transfers he was instrumental in failing to work out.
The past 12 months, however, have seen a positive shift with Brands overseeing a clear-out in January of fringe players and Carlo Ancelotti, who has a sound relationship with the Dutchman, has welcomed the prospect of extending their partnership.
