In the giddy aftermath of the game of the season, one dejected man stood out. Head bowed, brow furrowed, Simon Mignolet scuttled out of Anfield without stopping to speak.
A little while later, Loris Karius made the same walk, through the interview area, refusing all requests to discuss his return to the team. He was, though, clearly satisfied. This was another big game in which he had featured and his position as Anfield's new No 1 had been confirmed.
To see both goalkeepers on Sunday, though, it was hard to shake the feeling that they were, in some ways, undeserving of the positions in which they found themselves: Mignolet has not deserved to be kept daggling, while Karius hasn't done much to deserve such an elevated spot.
