It feels like the beginning of a new dawn on Merseyside. These clubs have always had big managers — it was Howard Kendall and Kenny Dalglish when I was at Everton — and now they have another two in Ronald Koeman and Jurgen Klopp.
They have two top managers in place and, even if there is room for improvement in their teams, the clubs are laying foundations for the future.
Liverpool may have stolen a march with their new stand but Everton have a billionaire owner in Farhad Moshiri. This game is the start of what I hope will be a long rivalry between these two bosses.
