Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss Liverpool's next five matches including the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea because of a recurrence to a knee injury.
Alexander-Arnold was taken off complaining of pain at half-time against Burnley on Saturday having missed most of January due to ligament damage in his knee.
Though no time frame has been put on the 25-year-old's return, it is anticipated Liverpool's date at Wembley on February 25 will come too soon.
The big Premier League clash with Manchester City on March 10 is a more realistic target with Liverpool facing Everton in the Merseyside derby the following weekend.
