Everton Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of striker Aileen Whelan and the return of former Blues defender Fern Whelan.
The pair arrive on free transfers after Notts County’s liquidation in WSL 1 and will go straight into the squad to face Durham at the Select Security Stadium on Saturday.
Defender Whelan spent nine years at Everton after joining from neighbours Liverpool in the summer of 2005. Her form at the heart of the Toffees’ defence throughout the 2007/8 campaign saw her named FA Young Player of the Year, and she earned senior England honours when making her debut in a 2-0 win over Sweden.
