Today marks the 56th birthday of former Newcastle hit-man Peter Beardsley.
The Hexham-born striker spent eight years with the Magpies across two different spells and went on to score 108 goals in 276 games for the club.
Beardsley failed to pick up any silverware on Tyneside and left for Liverpool in 1987 to fulfil his ambitions of winning trophies.
It proved to be the correct decision as Beardsley collected two league titles and a FA Cup before leaving for Merseyside rivals Everton.
And what better to mark the occasion than to watch the Geordie hero’s finest moments in a Newcastle shirt.
