Gylfi Sigurdsson wants Swansea City to allow him the chance to speak to Everton over a proposed £45million transfer.
The Iceland international was left out of Swansea's friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday and is not in the frame of mind to play for the club while his future remains undecided.
The club said: 'Gylfi Sigurdsson, however, will not feature as it was agreed between the club and player that he would sit this game out due to the current transfer speculation surrounding him.'
Swansea's owners have levelled accusations of bully tactics against Everton as they hold out for their £50m valuation though the 27-year-old Sigurdsson is understood to have sympathy with Everton who have conducted negotiations through the proper channels.
