Gana A Late Sub As Senegal Draw

Idrissa Gana Gueye came on as a late substitute as Senegal drew 2-2 with Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Blues midfielder played the final 12 minutes as manager Aliou Cissé left out 10 players, including Gana, from the starting line-up with Saturday’s quarter-final against Cameroon in mind.

After beating both Tunisia and Zimbabwe 2-0 in their opening fixtures, the Lions of Teranga were already safely through to the last eight as group winners before the game with Algeria.

Leicester City’s Islam Slimani netted a brace which saw Algeria twice take the lead against Senegal - but Cisse’s side fought back with goals from Pape Kouli Diop and Moussa Sow.
