Ramiro Funes Mori scored his first senior international goal for Argentina on Thursday.
The defender opened the scoring in their 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw against Peru in Lima.
Funes Mori pounced in the 15th minute to give Argentina the lead.
Paolo Guerrero equalised for the hosts just after half-time before a 77th-minute Gonzalo Higuain goal looked to have earned the victory for the 2016 Copa America finalists.
However, in the closing stages, Funes Mori conceded a penalty, allowing Christian Cueva the opportunity to earn Peru a point.
The draw leaves Argentina in fifth position in the CONMEBOL region table.
