Frank Lampard is all out of excuses as Everton manager ahead of crucial return to Bournemouth

Last season's famous fightback at home to Crystal Palace was supposed to be the springboard for Frank Lampard to kick on and ensure Everton never flirt with relegation from the Premier League so dangerously again. Yet 14 games into the campaign which has followed, they already risk slumping into the same dogfight this term.

On Tuesday night the pressure mounted on Lampard like never before in his rollercoaster 10-month spell as Toffees boss, with a 4-1 thrashing away at Bournemouth dumping them out of the Carabao Cup and leaving his future as manager hanging by a thread.
