Frank Lampard insists Everton deserved a point at Aston Villa but laments basic mistakes and 'lack of focal point' up front after suffering second successive defeat to start Premier League season

Everton manager Frank Lampard thinks his team were deserving of a point at Villa Park as they fell just short of completing a remarkable come-back.

Villa looked set to beat the Toffees comfortably and pick up their first clean sheet of the season after goals from Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia, until Lucas Digne's late own-goal which encouraged Everton to try and push for an equaliser.

The Villans were able to hold on to all three points and pick up their first Premier League points of the season, whereas Everton remain without a point having lost both of their first two games of the Premier League campaign.
