Frank Lampard could face an FA charge after he was asked to explain comments about referee Stuart Attwell following the Merseyside derby.
Everton were incensed about Attwell’s decision not to award a penalty in the 53rd minute when Anthony Gordon went down following a collision with Liverpool defender Joel Matip.
They contacted the referees’ body PGMOL to ask for clarification as to why VAR Darren England did not look at the incident in more detail.

Everton’s relationship with PGMOL is fractious and they have not forgotten how they were denied a spot-kick against Manchester City in February when Rodri handled inside the area.
