Former Everton, Hearts and Scotland forward Alex Young dies aged 80

Former Hearts, Everton and Scotland forward Alex Young has died at the age of 80.

Young spent five years in Scotland before moving to Merseyside in 1960 in a £40,000 deal. At Goodison he played 272 times, scored 89 goals and won winning the First Division and FA Cup. In addition he played five times for his country and scored five goals.

During his career, Young's displays earned him the nickname 'The Golden Vision.'

"We are all very sad and will miss him terribly," Young's son, Alex Junior, told the Everton website.
