Fabian Schar tells Newcastle new boy Anthony Gordon he'll have to prove himself to DESERVE 'protection' on the pitch - after the £45m man tried to joke with his new teammates about scuffle with Kieran Trippier and the Swiss star back in October

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar welcomed £45million signing Anthony Gordon with a light-hearted warning following their explosive scuffle at St James' Park last October.

Having joined the high-flying Magpies from Everton this week, Gordon was midway through his tour of the facilities when he was greeted by the Swiss centre-back, who was receiving treatment from the club's physios.

The last time the pair met on the pitch, during Newcastle's 1-0 home victory against the Toffees in October, Schar felt compelled to intervene when Gordon squared up to his captain Kieran Trippier.
