Everton v Lyon: Merseyside Police to investigate crowd trouble during Europa League match

Merseyside Police have announced they are to investigate the crowd trouble at last night's Europa League match between Everton and Lyon at Goodison Park.

An Everton fan, who was holding a child with one arm, appeared to try to strike a Lyon player during ugly scenes in front of the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End after Ashley Williams barged into Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes midway through the second half.

A statement from Merseyside Police read:

'Merseyside Police can confirm officers are investigating following a disturbance on the pitch during a football match between Everton and Lyon at Goodison Park last night, Thursday 19th October.
