Everton Under-18s beat Newcastle United 2-0 at USM Finch Farm on Wednesday afternoon to keep up their good run of form heading into the end-of-season group stage.
With one fixture left to play - against Wolves on Saturday - the young Blues are now guaranteed to finish in fifth position in the North section of the league table, meaning they qualify for Group Two.
The win over Newcastle was secured by goals in each half, the first of which was netted by midfielder Alex Denny on 24 minutes who turned in Danny Bramall’s centre.
Finnish striker Miko Virtanen stepped off then bench in the second half to complete the scoring with a looping header late on, again after good work on the wing from Bramall.
