Tony Cottee insists Everton must keep Ross Barkley at the club if they want to break into the Premier League’s top four.

The England midfielder is delaying signing a new contract, and that has led to speculation that Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all monitoring the situation with interest.

The 23-year-old has come through the ranks at Goodison Park but has not always found himself in Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans this term and is reportedly considering his future on Merseyside.
