LIVERPOOL, England -- Three points from Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
1. Spoils shared in a game of two halves
Former Southampton managers Ronald Koeman and Mauricio Pochettino shared the points as Everton and Tottenham drew 1-1 at Goodison Park on the opening day of the season. The Toffees were the better side in the first half, taking the lead through Ross Barkley, but Erik Lamela equalised after the break and Pochettino's team looked the more likely team to win the game in the final stages.
The hosts handed debuts to summer signings Martin Stekelenburg and Idrissa Gueye along with teenage right-back Mason Holgate; like John Stones, the 19-year-old joined from Barnsley after a handful of first-team appearances and there are high-hopes for him on Merseyside.
