Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson a major doubt for World Cup after 'damaging knee ligaments' against Brighton

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been left fearing for his World Cup prospects after damaging knee ligaments in Everton's 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Sigurdsson required treatment on his knee during the game but was able to play on until the final whistle at Goodison Park. However, the club now fear he may have damaged or even torn knee ligaments.

The Icelandic midfielder will undergo scans on Monday to determine the extent of the injury, but it has been claimed that it is serious enough to keep him out for the rest of the season.
