Everton prepared to match transfer record as they close in on Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose

Everton are closing in on Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose and are prepared to pay one of the biggest transfer fees in their history.

The Brazilian is one of Everton’s main priorities for the summer and Director of Football Steve Walsh met with representatives from Real Sociedad this week in an attempt to structure a deal before the window opens.

Sociedad only signed Willian Jose 12 months ago and he has scored 11 goals in 28 appearances; his buyout clause is £33million but Everton are confident they will be able to secure his signature for £28million, which would equal the fee they paid for Romelu Lukaku in 2014.
