Everton defender Matthew Pennington has been rewarded for his progress this season by being offered an improved contract until summer 2019.
Pennington, who can play at right back and in the central defence, capped his first start of the season with a goal in the 3-1 defeat by Liverpool last Saturday, and came off the bench in the midweek draw against Manchester United.
The 22-year-old is set to play from the start against Leicester City at Goodison Park on Sunday, in the absence of Ramiro Funes Mori through injury and Ashley Williams, who is suspended.
The new contract comes at the end of the same week in which Tom Davies penned a new deal at Goodison Park, which will keep him at the club until 2022.
