Everton boss Frank Lampard is fighting for his future after a toxic day at Goodison Park which saw the team slump to joint-bottom of the Premier League and allegations emerge of fans' physical abuse towards chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale.
Barrett-Baxendale and the rest of Everton's hierarchy were forced to stay away for safety reasons from Saturday's 2-1 home loss to Southampton, which was followed by a protest from 2,000 fans who chanted 'Sack the board' and carried banners opposing owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright.
On the pitch, two goals from Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse condemned Everton to a fourth consecutive home defeat in the league — their worst run since 1958.
