Marcel Brands has replaced Steve Walsh as Everton's director of football, the Premier League club have confirmed.
The Dutchman joins the Merseysiders from PSV Eindhoven, where he held a similar position.
He assumes the role Walsh has held for the past two years.
The former Leicester City transfer chief has been axed by Everton's majority shareholder after a dire summer transfer window last year, which saw the club spend nearly £200 million on signings that largely disappointed.
Brands has been widely praised for the work he has done at PSV Eindhoven, having improved their academy and transfer strategy, and helped them to the Eredivisie title in three of the past four seasons.
