Sam Allardyce believes Jordan Pickford has strengthened his hopes of being England's World Cup No 1 and insists he can handle the pressure.
The Everton goalkeeper impressed when Gareth Southgate chose him to play in Amsterdam last week but Stoke's Jack Butland was similarly competent in the 1-1 draw against Italy.
Allardyce, who worked with Pickford at Sunderland, watched the 23-year-old performance with interest and is adamant that he has made huge steps forward since moving to Everton for £30million last summer.
Pickford will be in the spotlight again tomorrow when Everton host champions-in-waiting Manchester City but Allardyce is confident he will produce another performance to solidify his place in the Southgate's thoughts.
