Everton's pursuit of long-term target Kevin Strootman could be ended as the Roma midfielder looks set to extend his contract with the Stadio Olimpico side.
Corriere dello Sport claim the 26-year-old Dutchman is eager to remain in the Italian capital despite rumours of a possible move to the Premier League in January.
Strootman has always maintained that he owes a great deal to Roma, who have stuck by their man despite two lengthy lay-offs with injury.
The midfielder's current deal expires in 2018 with any new agreement expected to extend the Dutchman's stay to until at least 2022.
