Everton assistant manager Craig Shakespeare challenges fringe players to force their way into Merseyside Derby picture as they train ahead of Europa League dead rubber in Cyprus

Craig Shakespeare has challenged the players featuring in Everton’s Europa League dead rubber against Apollon Limassol to force their way into Sam Allardyce’s derby plans.

The vast majority of Everton’s first team have stayed at home rather than fly to Cyprus for the final game of a listless European campaign, but a few senior players on the fringes will get match-time.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Kevin Mirallas, Nikola Vlasic, Mo Besic, Davy Klaassen, and Ademola Lookman are among those in Nicosia and Shakespeare insisted they can still earn consideration for Sunday’s contest with Liverpool.
