Everton and Inter Milan are reportedly looking to exploit a £27million release clause in Lorenzo Pellegrini's Roma contract.
The midfielder had been in negotiations over extending his contract, which is due to expire in 2022, but talks have reached an impasse.
That has been partly down to Serie A's postponement amid the coronavirus crisis but there is also uncertainty surrounding who will be running the club after co-owner James Pallotta signed preliminary contracts to sell the club to Dan Friedkin.

Pellegrini has made it clear to the club he wants to stay regardless of how that situation plays out but has asked for a substantial increase in wages which would see him earn £3.
