Daniel Jebbison started 2021 pulling on the shirt of National League North side Chorley.
He joined on a work-experience contract with Sheffield United keen to see the 17-year-old gain some valuable minutes. And yet here he proved he’s ready-made for the top level with Premier League history altered by his contribution on Sunday night.
Jebbison found himself free in the six-yard box seven minutes in for a tap-in on his first Premier League start. He unleashed a roar in celebration. Only Paul Heckingbottom seemed to not be surprised that the teenager, at 17 years and 309 days old, made himself the youngest player to score on his first top-flight start.
