Everton and Newcastle had to settle for a point apiece after Saturday's hectic Premier League clash at Goodison Park somehow ended 0-0.
Everton thought that they had taken the lead when Abdoulaye Doucoure headed home in the 18th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check.
VAR intervened again before half-time when a review fouled James Tarkowski guilty of hauling Sandro Tonali to the ground inside the penalty area.
The penalty was taken by ex-Toffees star Anthony Gordon, who saw his effort saved by Jordan Pickford to the delight of the home crowd.
