Ernie Hunt, who played for Everton during the late 1960s, has passed away at the age of 75.
An inside forward, Hunt arrived at Goodison Park from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 1967 for a fee of £80,000 and went on to score three goals in 14 appearances for the Blues.
He later enjoyed a successful spell at Coventry City during which time he scored a free-kick against Everton that led to a change in the laws of football.
The goal in question - one of the first ever to be shown in colour on Match of the Day - saw Coventry’s Willie Carr flick the ball up with his heels for Hunt to volley home.
