Everton Ladies captain Dan Turner has fond memories of playing against Durham – but hopes history doesn’t need to repeat itself on Sunday.
The Blue Girls face the WSL 2 side in the FA Women’s Cup at New Ferens Park, kick-off 2pm, looking to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
Centre of excellence graduate Turner is well used to fulfilling various roles within the team but in a February 2017 Cup meeting between the two sides, her versatility was truly put to the test.
After Kirstie Levell picked up an ankle problem in the first half, and with no replacement keeper on the bench, Turner was handed the gloves and played 75 minutes as the Blue Girls came from 2-0 down to force extra-time thanks to goals from Michelle Hinnigan and Simone Magill.
