Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion have made attempts to sign James McCarthy from Everton.
The Goodison Park club are reluctant to let McCarthy go without having a replacement lined up.
The 25-year-old has grown disgruntled in recent weeks after starting the season at right wing-back for Ronald Koeman's side.
Leicester, Newcastle, Celtic and Watford have also shown interest in McCarthy, who is valued at around £20million by Everton.
The former Wigan midfielder told the club he wished to leave last Friday and was left out of the squad for Saturday's 1-0 win over Stoke.
